On 22nd May 2021, Evolve – The Cycling Network for Muslim Women hosted the UK’s first ever Eid Cyclethon. The event was hosted off road at the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit to celebrate Eid while making the most of the easing of lockdown restrictions in a safe and controlled environment.
80 cyclists ranging between 5 and 50 years old took part in various activities over two sessions led by nine newly qualified level one coaches, supported by members of the @BritishCycling @CentralRegionBC. Essential cycling skills were showcased, focusing on manoeuvring through obstacle courses, changing gears, braking down hill and both the children’s and women’s sessions ended with a 3 mile race where winners received certificates and medals.

Food and Tea was catered by @Chaiiwala, Indian street food caterer. Strawberries and Cream was sold to raise money for Evolve’s main sponsor; @LFTrust Lady Fatemah Charitable Trust. A raffle consisting of 15 prizes donated by Evolve’s partners marked the end of the event and winners won prizes ranging from Massage and Cryotherapy to Muc-Off bike cleaning products, gift vouchers and various cycling necessities. Evolve would like to thank British Cycling and Harrow Cycle Hub as well as our coaches, volunteers, sponsors, partners and donors who aided in making the event a wonderful celebration of what everyone involved had achieved. We would also like to thank Sport England for the fantastic equipment they helped provide. Lastly, thank you to our wonderful photographers, who without, we would not have such amazing memories of this event.
