Pre-requisite
Arriving on Time

Riders are expected to arrive at all pre-designated meeting locations 10 minutes prior to the departure time, this enables ride leaders to go through ride briefing and carry out bike check.

Group sizes:

To help make group rides manageable for Ride leaders and maintain safety when riding on public roads, all groups will be limited to a maximum of 6 riders where possible.

Groups are not allowed to merge when on the road, as this congests the public highway and puts riders at risk. Groups are to remain separated and riders are asked to remain with the groups that they are put into unless stated otherwise.

You MUST remain with your ride leaders at all times

Young Riders:

All riders under the age of 18 are considered to be a child, minor or young person and must be accompanied by an adult.

Medical and Health:

Riders with specific health requirements or medical conditions should make themselves known to the Club Committee and Ride leaders, so that we can facilitate your ride.

Before taking participating in any rides, a rider with specific health requirements should always inform their Ride leaders. In the event of the rider needing medical attention, the Ride leader can pass this information on to emergency services or administer appropriate first aid

 Considerate Cycling:

Where possible, riders are encouraged to ride two abreast within their groups.

Riders are not allowed to ride three abreast at any time whilst out on the road as this is dangerous and hinders other road users.

However, groups may occasionally have to go into a single file line, in which case, a Ride leader will shout, “Single!” This callout is expected to be passed back through the group so that all riders are made aware.

Please maintain a bike length between riders to avoid clipping other riders and may cause a fall

Riders are expected to call out obstacles and obstructions to all members of their group, as failure to do so will result in a crash and possible injury.

Avoid braking suddenly

Riders are expected to always watch ahead for possible danger and traffic calming measures such as speed bumps and traffic lights. If a group needs to slow down or stop, Riders should call “Slowing!” to signify to the rest of the group that they need to slow down, and “Stopping!” if the group needs to halt.

Be polite to other cyclists, motorists, pedestrians and residents.

Please do not Ride off the front

Riders must obey the Highway Code at all times

always wear a helmet and make sure your bike is road-worthy (brakes checked, chain oiled, tyres pumped up)

Check for yourself whether it is safe to go out at junctions even if you have heard the call ‘Clear’
